![]() ![]() In 1998, he made his first feature film, Tomorrow Night, a black and white film presented at Sundance. During this decade, his work earned him several Emmy nominations, which in 1999 rewarded him for the best screenplay for an entertainment program for The Chris Rock Show. In the 1990s, he was a screenwriter for several hit talk show shows, including Late Night with Conan O'Brien (1993-1994), Late Show with David Letterman (1995) and The Dana Carvey Show (1996). The Big Apple gives him his chance: while surveying the stand-up scenes, he directed and wrote two short films ( Caesar's Salad in 1990 and Ice Cream in 1993). ![]() Under the name Louis CK (easier to pronounce according to him than his name of Hungarian origin), he tries to break into New York in 1989. It was in this city that he made his stand-up debut, inspired by Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Richard Pryor and Steve Martin whom they admire. ![]() Back in the United States, his family moved to Boston. Born in Washington in 1967, it was however in Mexico where his father was from that Louis CK (real name Louis Szekely) grew up until he was seven years old. ![]()
